Venezuela Opens to the World: Qatar Airways to Start Regular Operations in Caracas

Starting July 22, 2026, Venezuela will achieve a milestone in its aviation history. Qatar Airways, repeatedly recognized as the "World's Best Airline," will begin regular flights connecting Maiquetía International Airport (CCS) with Hamad International Airport in Doha (DOH).

The new service will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays following a triangular route: Doha – Bogota – Caracas – Doha. The flight will be serviced by a Boeing 777-200LR, an aircraft designed for ultra-long-haul routes, ensuring a luxury experience even in economy class.

Why does this matter to the average passenger?

Previously, traveling to Asia, Australia, or the Middle East meant relying almost exclusively on layovers in Europe or Panama. Qatar Airways opens a direct gateway to markets like China, Japan, Dubai, Lebanon, and Australia, offering smooth connections at Hamad International Airport.

⭐Vuelitos Super Tip

  • Visa-Free Transit: If your layover in Doha is under 12 hours, Venezuelan citizens typically do not need a transit visa, provided you stay in the international area.

  • Stopover (Long layover): If you plan to leave the airport to explore Doha (between 5 and 96 hours), you can apply for a free Transit Visa if your entire journey is with Qatar Airways.

  • Baggage: For routes to the Americas, Qatar usually applies the "piece concept" (2 bags of 23kg in Economy), allowing you to bring back more souvenirs from your trip.
